The smile factor

In May this year Rob Wain Clinical Director of Dovetail Bespoke Dental Solutions in Newcastle advertised a competition within the Northern Echo newspaper.

They called the competition “Smile Factor” the competition gave local people who were desperate to avoid dentures turn their teeth in a dazzling smile via the latest surgical implant technique.

Rob Wain said “We are looking to give someone a life changing experience. When people lose their teeth through hereditary gum disease, an accident or a lifelong fear of visiting the dentist it can destroy their confidence. This new Nobel Biocare implant surgery that is handcrafted by PDS Dental Laboratory, gives people who face dentures in their later years their love of life back, more so than anything I have seen in my 20years dentistry experience”.

A shortlist of five finalists was chosen to take part in an Audition Day in June and to undergo a full dental examination and health-check before the winner was chosen.

The immediate loading implant procedure took place on a sunny Thursday 30th July at 9.30am following the surgery and the impression was taken a soft tissue model was created by PDS Dental Laboratory’s Paul Siviter within Dovetail surgery.

The finished fit was perfect and the Patient was ecstatic.
The whole proceedure took around 5 hours.
